C-A-R-T-ACompilatore Automatico di Righe, Testi e Anagrafiche Open C-A-R-T-A

Install

C-A-R-T-A works without installing anything: just open carta.deco.it.fo in your browser. Installing it keeps it at hand: its own icon, its own window, and PDFs opening straight from Outlook, the browser or File Explorer. Pick what you need below: each step is done only once.

On your phone and tablet

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open carta.deco.it.fo in Safari.
  2. Tap Share (the square with the arrow pointing up).
  3. Choose Add to Home Screen and confirm.

The C-A-R-T-A icon appears on your Home Screen. Note: the installed app has its own storage, separate from Safari. If you had connected the compiler service in Safari, connect it again inside the app.

Android

  1. Open carta.deco.it.fo in Chrome.
  2. Tap the menu (three dots) and choose Install app.
  3. Confirm.

From then on, to open a PDF in C-A-R-T-A start from the other app (mail, files, WhatsApp), tap Share and choose C-A-R-T-A.

On your computer

You need Chrome or Edge (Windows, Mac or Linux).

  1. Open carta.deco.it.fo.
  2. In the address bar click the Install icon (a screen with an arrow) and confirm. Or press Install as app on the C-A-R-T-A home page.
  3. From then on, right-click a PDF or a signed file, choose Open with… and then C-A-R-T-A.

In Outlook

The add-in gives Outlook an Open attachments button: PDFs, signed files and electronic invoices open with one click, including those inside certified e-mail (PEC). It works in new Outlook, Outlook on the web and classic Outlook.

  1. Open the C-A-R-T-A for Outlook page and download the Outlook file.
  2. In Outlook open Add-ins → My add-ins → Add a custom add-in → Add from file, and choose the downloaded file. The Outlook page explains the steps for each version.
  3. Open a message with an attachment and press Open attachments.

Attachments are read only inside the pane, on your device.

In Chrome and Edge

The Open in C-A-R-T-A extension sends to C-A-R-T-A the PDFs the browser is about to open, and adds «Open in C-A-R-T-A» to the right-click menu on links.

  1. Download the extension and unzip it into a folder you will keep (for example Documents).
  2. Open chrome://extensions (in Edge edge://extensions) and turn on Developer mode.
  3. Press Load unpacked and choose the carta-estensione folder.
  4. To open PDFs from your computer too, turn on Allow access to file URLs in the extension's Details.

The extension is not on the Chrome Web Store: that is why it is loaded this way, and the browser sometimes reminds you it is in developer mode. That is normal.

Windows preview (File Explorer and classic Outlook)

To see a PDF or a signed file without opening it, in the preview pane of File Explorer and classic Outlook. It also puts the C-A-R-T-A icon on .pdf, .p7m, .p7s, .tsd and .m7m files.

  1. Download the installer and double-click it. No administrator rights needed.
  2. Windows may warn that the program is not signed: press More info and then Run anyway.
  3. For classic Outlook you also need, once per computer, an administrator step: in the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\CARTA\installatore\CARTA anteprima Outlook (paste the path into the File Explorer address bar) right-click ABILITA IN OUTLOOK (amministratore) and choose Run as administrator. File Explorer does not need it.

To remove it, the same folder has TOGLI ANTEPRIMA CARTA.

On iPad, from other apps

On iPad you cannot make C-A-R-T-A the default PDF reader. For this there is a shortcut for Apple's Shortcuts app, Open in C-A-R-T-A, which hands the PDF to C-A-R-T-A. It relies on the compiler service: ask whoever runs it.
